Marking Faults Against “Them”

The fact that God does not mark or hold fault against anyone any longer is something that most people have a difficult time grasping and believing. It is something most will look down upon and it is likely one of the most difficult things to talk about to those that don’t believe in the total redemption of all mankind.

This Gospel is called the Good News for a purpose. If God was to still hold faults against you then I don’t know how we could present the Gospel to anyone and at the same time tell them it is Good news. I don’t see where warning people they may burn in an eternal fire is good news by any stretch of the imagination. But is that not what a lot of sermons we have heard over the years are all about?

I am sure it is not too hard to accept the fact that there could be a chance that God won’t hold anything against us personally. At least I am sure we all hoped so anyway.  Of course we can all say “well I’m not that bad really”. But I am sure that although it is easier for us to accept the fact He holds nothing against us personally, I am sure we all know someone that God should definitely hold their faults against them. I mean doesn’t God see all the terrible things these people we have in mind are doing? Is He blind or what!!!! I’m sure we all know someone that God ought to just beat the daylights out of. If reconciliation of all mankind is true, then God is not going to do that but I sure would if I was God, you may be thinking. J

So we see that we likely have all said at one time or another that we are glad that God will not overlook “what they are doing” and He rightly should be raining judgment upon them and of course we know these people we have in mind deserve hell for all eternity. Thank God He will look after such as these and judge them as He should, is what we like to say. It’s easy to look upon others and believe they deserve punishment but it is not easy to look at ourselves and think we deserve the same thing. We hope God will overlook what we do, because after all it is not that bad, but really glory in that we think He will judge and punish others. Ummm…I think I smell self righteousness. J (And it does smell by the way)

I said all that to say this…God has not overlooked anything you, me or anyone else has done. He knew all this before the foundation of the world. He placed all upon His Son and He paid the penalty. Jesus came to earth not to judge but for judgment. In other words He came to take our judgment and not to judge us. The ones we may think deserve punishment for the things they do are the same as the rest of us….we all deserved to be punished and by His grace, all judgment was placed upon His Son. There were none righteous, no not one. There are now none unrighteous, no not one. His righteousness reigns this side of the cross. When He said it was finished He had finished all for all mankind….He died once for all.
