Confession
We see here that confession of sin was connected to a sacrifice. They had to first confess that sin and then offer a sacrifice. Leviticus 16:21 is the first place where laying on of hands is mentioned. Aaron was to lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat and confess all the iniquities, transgressions and the sins of the children of
Israel. In Hebrews chapter 6 it says we are to leave these doctrines behind and go on. These doctrines that are mention are referring to leaving those things they used to do under the Old Covenant and to go on unto perfection. I won’t go into any detail here as I posted something on this on October 10 & 11, 2006.
All the iniquities were placed upon the head of the goat and he was sent away into the wilderness. Now we know that this sacrifice of a goat did not take away sin, but only covered sin for the period of a year. The book of Hebrews is a book that relates back to Deuteronomy and Leviticus and it shows the difference between the sacrifice of the goat to cover sins and the sacrifice of Jesus to take away sin. This is a type and shadow of Jesus. This was a goat that was used to show the fashion that our sin would be taken away from us.
Leviticus 26:41 continues on and says they had to accept the punishment of their iniquity and He would acknowledge the covenant He made with them. It was saying that they had to accept the fact that the punishment for their iniquity had been placed upon the goat and once they accepted the fact it was done, they could continue on, knowing their iniquity had been looked after by the sacrifice that was offered.
I have shown the origin of the confession of sin. I think these scriptures make it quite clear how it was done and hopefully I have brought it out in a way that you can understand. Remember that this is contained in the inspired scriptures (Old Testament) and that it was a shadow of things to come (Hebrews 10:1). I believe this has to be understood in order to properly understand how Jesus was the fulfillment of all these things contained in the Old Covenant. I will continue along these lines over the next several days and hopefully you will begin to see the awesome sacrifice that was offered on our behalf on the cross. Stay tuned. J
Like what I’m hearing so far my friend. The ? that popped up for me as I was reading through was that it seems incredible to me that for all of these years now, more like centuries man has had a real inability to see this. I mean how can something this good , I mean in what the cross provided be lost to our hearts and understanding. What causes this blindness anyway? Is it simply the greatest case of ignorance the world has ever known or purely stubborness. I must admit I find the thing quite a study. Anyway I will look forward to more on this topic.
Randy, good to hear from you today. I think the problem is we have been listening to man all along and we simply became religious and believed everything, or at least almost everything, that they said. People tend to idolize those that supposedly have the rule over them and of course they doubt they would be teaching anything wrong. Of course we know no one has any rule over anyone else as Jesus is the head (ruler) and not man. The further along we get into this the more we see just how indoctrinated we were, some of us in one doctrine, others in another type of doctrine, but doctrines none the less. There can never be freedom in following men and their doctrines. There is only bondage in that. Freedom comes from knowing Him and His cross and from nowhere else.
Thanks for commenting Randy. Hope all is still going well.
Roy you said this,Freedom comes from knowing Him and His cross and from no where else.

It is very interesting to note that in my world travels to Christian churches in numerous countries, people tend to believe what is preached from the pulpit because the pastors are the ones who studied religion at seminary (cemetary) and would not knowingly mislead their flock. How many pastors/evangelists/preachers do you know that actually prepare their own sermons without using someone else’s messages, books, etc? I cannot find anywhere in the bible where we are told to use man’s tools to preach the gospel or to use the word of God to establish churches and put people under man’s controls, especially under laws that were never given to them (the gentiles). People want to believe what they hear from the pulpil because the people speaking from there surely know what’s best from a spiritual point of view. I was taken in by many in the pulpit for many years and it makes me angry to think of all the time I wasted trying to get it right. Now life is a breeze and my relationship with the Lord is sealed and will last forever.
Richard in California, great to hear from you. I totally agree with your comments. It is a totally different view when we see through His eyes (mind) as He has perfect vision. When we see through others men’s interpretations the view gets severely distorted.
So good to read all the comments. Especially good to here from Kenneth and Richard. Thanks Kenneth for the well wishes from you, I will give our little one an Irish kiss for you all. By the way whats an Irish kiss anyway?? As well good to here from Richard, it doesn’t seem possible that just a short time ago we were all together enjoyed wonderful fellowship. Again its all about the wonderful freedom we have been brought into. After all it is for freedom that we have been set free!!
Greetings to all from Ukraine, Randy
To Kenneth, my apologies, as I read back over your comment I realized what you were saying about the child that died so suddenly , my heart goes out to them. I just didn’t want to seem insensitive to this. It has to be a terribly difficult time for those people concerned. Take care my brother, Randy.
Its ok randy my friend.I wish you and your family all the best for the future.
Love,
kenneth.
Traditions will always tend to dictate a person’ conviction when it comes to the confession of sin (s). Confessing or not confessing sins, adds nothing and takes away nothing from from a person. As a traditional routine and personal belief, religious people confess their sins as a way of making them feel better.
My grandmother for example. Refardless of how many times I would remind her that her sins had been all forgiven in Christ, and regardless of how many passages I would ask her to read out of the bible concerning the confession of sins, although she would agreed that Jesus did fulfilled the law of sin and death, she still went on to confess her sins.
I then came to the realization that I shouldn’t take away from anyone what it is that makes them feel good about themselves. I may have judged my grandmother’s traditional confession of sins as being ignorance and useless, but who was I to take away something that she had been brought up to believe and taught by her church. Afterall, there will always be something in our own convictions that may be off the wall to others but we still continue to do them because it makes us feel good.
Confessing or not confessing our sins takes nothing away and adds nothing to the finished work of the cross. Granted, as with anything else, there can be extremes in just about anything we believe. As they say, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. I agree, confession of sin would seem to be a slap in the face of Christ, since Christ did forgive all sin. And those of us who have come to the understanding of such, it does make us feel good to know that we don’t have to be conscious of sin anymore, nor worry about the guilt that a sin conscious produces.
So I believe that God’s grace is sufficient enough for the ones who continue to confess their sins because it just simply makes them feel good about having to do so, since its been a ‘personal’ tradition and conviction for them, and the same goes for those who now know that there is no need to confess sins because of the finsihed work of the cross. It is just like the person in the bible who kept beating their chest and saying: “Oh Lord, be merciful to me a sinner.” Thank God that He is merciful to all!!!
Just my two cents worth of opinion on this subject. Because as they say: “Opinions are like noses. They each have two holes in them.”

Arturo’s comments of grace:
June 25, 2005
He wrote:
“Everyone sins everyday. We cannot take sin lightly. Jesus may have forgiven sins that we aren’t aware of. But those sins that we do know of must be confessed and ask God for repentance on a regular basis. The men who preach grace could be wrong. We shouldn’t leave it up to them to decide if we should or shouldn’t confess sin. I do not find any harm at all in confessing my sins. But I will not play with the fires of eternal damnation and risk the possibility of being sent to hell. I will not take that chance. Sin is sin and it must be confessed when we commit it. The bible says that the devil is very clever and he would love to see to it that our sins be many. Don’t let a day go by without confessing your sins. God has not done away with His laws completely. We will be in danger of eternal damnation if we stop confessing our sins.”
